Deity Demands Devotion | Mark 12:35-40

The misconception that Jesus was just a good man or a good teacher completely steals away His worth as our God. Since the religious leaders didn't respect Him as God, they certainly didn't want to give Him their worship. However, they used God and their religion just enough to make them wealthy and to give them the ability to manipulate the people. Jesus' discussion with them in Mark 12:35-40 is meant to reveal their hearts as to how they see Him. The whole intention of this passage is for Jesus to uncover the empty religious practice and "show" that the leaders were putting on, making it look like they were full of piety. The "Son of David" wants them to know that "Deity Demands Devotion"!
